This Halloween, skip the over-priced costume shop look for something cheaper: your own wardrobe. A SLIP DRESS

Nightgowns-as-eveningwear has been an ongoing trend, so wear it on the night of all nights. Make like Kendall Jenner-a known fan of the dress-add some key accessories and you're on your way to supermodeldom. If you've recently stained your beloved slip and can't bear to throw it out, get a little crazy à la Amazing Amy from Gone Girl. A few splashes of blood and you're Ben Affleck's worst nightmare.

Platform boots are the fall shoe, and the ability to wear them for Halloween and beyond just proves it. If you're feeling more pop-and maybe a little bit country- channel Taylor Swift's brief dalliance with grunge fashion. A TRENCH COAT

A wardrobe staple like a trench coat can do anything: be styled over an LBD, worn with denim, or yes, incorporated into your Halloween costume. If it gets too warm for your coat, take off the coat and you're Kim K's nude selfie. It's a two-fer! Alternatively, outline your coat with a sharpie and wear a white eye patch.
